uncle cheffy, a name known for panizza, now also offers unlimited chicken and pork cracklings all day, and every day for php199+.
i was invited by aldous to a food-tasting event at the uncle cheffy branch in venice piazza, mckinley hill. the place was spacious, and even had a separate area which can be used for small functions. the dark wooden tables, somewhat cozy lighting, landscape nature paintings, and mirrors with thick, golden, carved frames made me feel as if i’d been invited to a rest house whose owner had half-heartedly tried to model after a cabin in the woods.
unlimited chicken and pork cracklings (php199+). the unlimited chicken and pork cracklings promo is good for 90 minutes at a time, and includes one glass of iced tea and one cup of rice. the initial serving includes: one part of roasted chicken in gravy, one part of fried chicken, and one chunk of bagnet. after this, it’s up to the customer to choose which of the viands he/she wants another serving of. just call the attention of the staff, and they’ll be happy to help you stuff yourself with chicken and pork.
the roasted chicken was soft and juicy. its slightly sweet sauce reminded me a bit of adobo. the fried chicken was my favorite. it had skin that was thin and crispy, and meat that was still also soft and juicy despite having been fried. it’s similar to max’s fried chicken, especially when paired with the banana ketchup provided. the pork chunk was small compared to the chicken parts, but its tender-on-the-inside-crunchy-on-the-outside goodness made me gobble down even the fatty bits. plus, one can add some lechon sauce to it (i added lots!).
even if the meal did not entail unlimited ulam, it still would have been an ok deal for its price. the meat cuts were not at all tinipid. in addition, each part was well-prepared and yummy.
here are the rules for uncle cheffy’s all-day every day unlimited chicken and pork cracklings:
* promo is good for 90 minutes per person only.
* succeeding hours will be charge the same rate of php199+ per 1 1/2 hour per person.
* no sharing, no leftover, no take-out.
* leftover = php300+ per person and still, taking out of food is strictly not allowed.
* refill of chicken and pork shall be granted only for those who finished their food.
* promo is not valid in conjunction with other promos, discounts, special privileges, take-out and delivery services.
it must also be noted that the promo is available from 29 july to 31 october 2015 and only in the following branches: bluewave stripmall in marikina, robinsons metro east in pasig city, venice piazza, mckinley hill in taguig city, and solenad nuvali in sta. rosa city, laguna.
(maybe) uncle cheffy favorites panizza (medium – php200). a visit to uncle cheffy wouldn’t be complete without some roll-up pizza. i’m actually confused which one this is on their menu, but it has mushrooms, dried tomatoes, onion rings and cheese, so it must be the favorites one.
i had a lot of fun rolling up the panizza. it’s generously covered in cheese, and my only wish is that there was more fresh tomato cubes and lettuce that came with the dish. perhaps it’s possible to ask for more, but i didn’t get the chance.
italian leche flan (p130). the flan was packed, not airy, which was good. the flavor was good, too. it even had a little cherry on top. i’m not sure what was italian about it, though.
cheffy cheesecake (p150). this dessert was a sort of brownie cheesecake. it had a bread-y top crust, a cheesecake-y second layer, a chocolate part that also had a cheesecake consistency that was almost like mousse, and a brownie bottom. it was soft and moist, and i liked the flavor, but wished it was a lot less sweeter than it was.uncle cheffy
