a go-to place for canadian comfort food in kapitolyo, main street is perfect for dates, family lunches, that long-overdue catch up session with the girls, or that time you just really wanted to eat something good.
owner and head chef adam tan developed his love for cooking while studying in vancouver. he came back home after and put up main street in mckinley. then, 2 years ago, they moved and settled into their new home on east capitol drive in kapitolyo.
“home” is rather literal here, as the restaurant used to be a house. it was a pretty big house, from the looks of things. what is now the ample parking space used to be a garden; what is now the outdoor dining area (with its instagrammable wall) was once a garage, and; its function rooms today were the various bedrooms of the old house.
it’s spacious unlike other places in kapitolyo. parking can fit about 4 cars, i think. and inside the tables aren’t cramped together–perfect for lovers of personal space (i.e. me).
their menu has variety, probably for your every mood. they actually just released a new menu recently. they do this about twice a year, just to keep things fresh.
we were able to try a bunch of new items (such as the cajun spiced prawn salad), along with some classic crowd favorites (like the buttermilk fried chicken).
my favorites would have to be the cajun spiced prawn salad, and the classic cheeseburger. salad was zesty and had complementing sweet, sour, and salty flavors. the burger was just really juicy!
we got to try all of their desserts: cheesecake, brownie, and apple crumble. the cheese cake was short and creamy, and chef adam said that’s how you can tell if it’s really made of cream cheese, because it’s hard to make cheesecake tall unless you add fillers. i thought it was the perfect level of sweet for filipino taste buds, and was a favorite among the evening’s diners. personally, i preferred the brownie. i loved it taste-wise, but i wish it were fudgey-er and a little more moist.

tomato braised seafood stew (p350)
if feeling adventurous, try the seafood stew. it had a different feel from the other food items we got to try. it almost tasted asian with the spices in it.

they make the bacon jam that goes into the grilled cheese.

main street kapitolyo also offers catering services, whether in-house or out. they have packages for large groups–you can reserve the function room. while touring the function rooms, i even joked, “may karaoke ba?” the answer was a YES. so you can even do parties, bridal showers, and the like.
i can honestly say that main street is one of my favorite places in kapitolyo. aside from the ample serving of personal space in the resto itself, the food is good, pretty to look at, and quite reasonably priced.main street kapitolyo
